What is facial rejuvenation?
Total facial rejuvenation is a term we use to describe enhancing the face with all of our non-invasive (i.e. non-surgical) treatment options in our Broomfield, Colorado office. Total facial rejuvenation can include all of our treatments options – ranging from Botox injections to relax the muscles in the upper face that lead to wrinkles, to dermal fillers which smooth lines on the face and add volume, to laser skin resurfacing – which helps tighten fine lines and remove pigment (dark spots, etc.).
The Liquid Face Lift
Sometimes called a the Liquid Face Lift, total facial rejuvenation usually includes filler injections. (See demo video above) Fillers do not smooth wrinkles, but they add volume to the face. All of us lose volume in our face, neck and hands as we age. The collagen in our skin that makes our faces look full degrades over time, and we develop deeper lines, sunken cheeks, and sagging skin. Think about the chubby cheeks of a toddler – full of collagen, smooth and even. Gravity takes its toll as we age, but fillers help turn back the clock. Filler, injected by a physician expert, instantly add in lift and volume, replacing that and restoring a more natural, youthful appearance. Done well, fillers should make you look like a younger version of yourself. Ideally, your friends and family won’t notice that you have had anything specific done, but will mention that you look younger, brighter, and more well-rested. Fillers can be added in the lips to give your pout a fuller, more beautiful shape. In fact, this is one of the most popular areas for filler injections for our Colorado patients. Other popular places to add filler are in the parenthesis lines around the mouth, under the eyes to soften hollowness and dark circles, and in the cheeks to lift the face.
Another very popular procedure that contributes to overall facial rejuvenation is laser resurfacing. Laser resurfacing should be done by a skilled physician, as lasers have many setting and can be infinitely adapted to match your skin concerns and goals. Laser resurfacing is done with a fractional laser, like the DOT, which creates tiny micro-injuries to the skin. The injuries then heal, skin sloughs off, and tighter, more even skin is revealed. Lasers can tighten loose creppy skin around the eyes and mouth, and remove brown spots, freckles, and broken capillaries. Following a laser procedure, the treated area will appear red and sun-burned-like for a few days, and then skin will begin to peel off. Underneath, your skin will appear smoother and tighter. The procedure also stimulates your cells to produce new collagen, which makes the skin appear more youthful. We call the laser procedure the “most powerful tool” in our anti-aging tool kit because of the wide-range of benefits achieved with a single procedure. With good home skin care post-procedure with our medical-grade products, and avoidance of the sun, results can last for years.
We also recommend getting regular chemical peels and microneedling with our aesthetician. Ideally, you would alternate treatments monthly. So, month one you would deeply exfoliate the face with a gentle but powerful ultrasonic microdermabrasion or dermaplanning treatment. The following month, you would receive a chemical peel. We have various peels of different strengths that can resolve specific concerns – like hyper-pigmentation, aging skin, and acne. Then, in month three, you would have a microneedling or Plasma facial treatment. Microneedling uses a small, vibrating pen-like device to create tiny micro-injuries to the skin’s surface. Healing products are infused during the treatment to strengthen and heal the skin. You can repeat these cycle of 3 treatments each quarter to reveal your absolute most beautiful skin ever. These skin treatments improve skin tone and texture, can soften and lighten scars, and reduce hyperpigmenation.
Skin care products
To complete your total facial rejuvenation, we always recommend a good home skin care regimen to enhance and maintain the results of your treatment. Ninety percent of how your skin looks, and how well it ages, depends on what you do at home to take care of your skin. Sun avoidance is also key and the sun is your skin’s number one enemy in terms of aging. Our staff and our aesthetician can talk you through our best recommendations – and you can read about some ideas here. We especially recommend every person use medical-grade Retin-A or retinol dispensed in a physician’s office. It is the most powerful anti-aging product available. (And of course a good sunscreen that has both a chemical and a physical block.)
When you come in to our Broomfield, Colorado office, Dr. Janowski will meet with you to create a customized plan that matches your goals and your budget. Together you will decide how you want to tackle your anti-aging road map, as it usually contains a few treatment options. Once the plan has been created, you will work on your total facial rejuvenation over time, maintaining your results with regular Botox injections (every 3-4 months) and great home skin care.
