PrescriptionPad sonata laserClients at our Broomfield, Colorado office will often ask us what is the ideal schedule or timeline for maintaining youthful and radiant skin. Like any physician, Dr. Janowski will create a “prescription” customized for you when you visit our office. On your first visit, and upon request on returning visits, Dr. Janowski will sit down with you to discuss your goals, concerns and your ideal timeline for aesthetic treatments. He will make a personalized treatment plan based on your unique facial structure and the quality of your skin. From there, you will together create your ideal aesthetic “prescription”. Every client will leave the office with their personalized treatment plan in hand.
Everyone’s face, bone structure, and skin is different, and so there is no “one-size-fits all” plan, however, there are some general guidelines for maintaining your most radiant skin.

Our prescription generally starts below the skin’s surface and works its way up through the dermis.

Here are our best recommendations:

Every 3 Years:

Ultherapy is the only FDA-approved treatment clinically proven to lift the skin. This powerful treatment uses focused Ultrasound to create micro-injuries deep below the skin’s surface. As these micro-injuries heal, new collagen forms and the skin tightens in the treated area.

Ultherapy can tighten the neck and jawline (It’s most popular application), can lift the eyebrow, can tighten fine lines around the mouth, and can smooth lines and creppiness on the chest.

Ultherapy is done in one session in our Broomfield office, and best results are seen after about 6 months. The treatment is an excellent preventive choice to help forestall the effects of gravity and age on our skin.

Laser Skin Resurfacing:

Using the power of fractional laser technology, a laser treatment can tighten the skin, as well as remove color (freckles, melasma, sun spots, etc.). The laser creates tiny micro-injuries to the skin, which as they heal, generate new collagen.

If you live in Denver, Broomfield, Boulder, and surrounding areas and want to improve skin tone and remove the age and sun spots that make us look older, Laser resurfacing is the gold standard . The treatment is done in one session. Post-treatment, you will have a red, sun-burned like appearance. A few days after treatment, you skin will begin to peel or slough off, revealing more beautiful, clearer and brighter skin.

With proper skin care post-treatment, and avoidance of the sun, results can last 3-5 years, on average.

IPL stands for intense pulsed light. This treatment is excellent for removing color, dark spots, and freckles on the face, neck, chest and hands. Using a bright flash of light, pigment is pulled to the surface of the skin. The dark pigment will flake off after a few days, revealing a clearer complexion.

The treatment takes only a few minutes, and should be repeated for best results. IPL works best when done in a series of three treatments.
IPL can be done as frequently as necessary, but with proper home skin care, including sun avoidance, results should last for years.

Once a year:

Fillers add volume and lift to the face. There are several types of filler, all with different uses. Dr. Janowski will help you select the best filler for your particular area of concern.  All of us lose volume in the face as we age. If you look at a photo of your younger self, you may notice that you had fuller cheeks and lips, and a wrinkle-free face. The best use for fillers is to restore your natural volume, and to give you a subtle change and a beautiful appearance.

Fillers can be used in many areas of the face (and even in the hands), and they add volume, smooth lines, and can lift the face. Some of the most popular areas to use fillers are in the lips, in the parenthesis lines around the mouth, under the eyes, and in the cheeks to lift the face.

The results of filler are immediate, and most fillers last between 9 month and a year, with some lasting 2-5 years.

The injection of filler is an art, and you want to work with someone with a deep understanding of facial anatomy, medicine, and the fillers themselves.

Every 3-4 months:

Botox®: Botox® is the number one cosmetic treatment worldwide. That is because Botox® is extremely effective in relaxing the muscles that cause the expressions that lead to wrinkling of the skin. In general, Botox® is used in the upper face – with the most popular treatment area being between the brows, also known as the “11s”.

With repeated use, Botox® can actually prevent wrinkles from forming.

While Botox® is generally used in the upper face, between the brows, and in the crow’s feet area, it does have other uses in the lower face. It has also been proven that Botox® usage can ease or prevent some cases of depression. Botox® is also extremely effective for relieving and preventing tension headaches. You can discuss all of the many uses of Botox® with Dr. Janowski during your 1 on 1 consultation in our Broomfield, CO office.

Most people need Botox® treatments every 3-4 months.

Chemical Peels:

Chemical peels are extremely effective in keeping your skin healthy, exfoliated, and clear. We offer several types of peels to serve all skin types and treatment needs. Peels work best in a series, and can be repeated as often as once per month – but we recommend anywhere between 3-6 peels per year.

Peels can help treat skin discoloration and pigmentation issues. Chemical peels are also fantastic at both treating and keeping acne at bay.

Post-peel, your skin will be flaky and possibly red. As the skin peels off, newer, tighter, clearer and healthier skin is revealed. We are obsessed with peels because of the fantastic exfoliation you receive and their effectiveness in maintaining healthy, radiant skin. We recommend adding in an Ultrasonic Microdermabrasion treatment before a peel. Using ultrasonic vibrations, the skin is gently exfoliated, which allows the peel to penetrate more deeply.

You can also add in dermaplanning prior to any peel for a more effective result and for incredibly smooth skin. Dermaplanning uses a surgical blade to remove fine hairs on the face. It is an excellent preparation for the skin before a peel, increasing the peel’s effectiveness, and leaving you with baby-smooth skin.

Microneedling (or the Plasma Facial):

Microneedling uses a tiny pen like device to create micro-injuries to the skin. Products, such as your own most-healing PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma), or medical grade treatment serums and growth factors, are infused into the skin during the procedure.

Microneedling has been clinically proven to reduce the appearance of scars and other skin imperfections. Microneedling also helps the skin generate new collagen, keeping your appearance youthful.

We recommend microneedling in a series of 3 treatments, spaced out by about a month. A peel series can be alternated in between treatments for superior results.

Once a month:

Dermaplaning is a quick, pain-free, and non-invasive skincare procedure that removes dead skin cells as well as facial hair. The results are instant, leaving the skin looking bright, youthful and healthy while promoting deeper penetration of beneficial skin treatments and products.

Dermaplaning is a great exfoliator, comparable to microdermabrasion, with the added benefit of removing all fine unwanted facial hair, smoothing skin and allowing for an easier makeup application. The long-term effects of Dermaplaning include increased cell turnover, resulting in fewer wrinkles and less pigmentation.

As fine hairs grow back, most clients come back in for additional treatments, which can be repeated as frequently as desired.

Everyday: Skin Care Products:

Retin-A or retinols are the absolute gold standard in medical-grade skin care. Studied for decades, Retin-A has been proven to increase cell turnover, resulting in healthier, firmer, and clearer skin. Originally used to treat acne (because acne improves when cell turnover improves), Retin-A, or its gentler cousin Retinol, has incredible and proven anti-aging benefits.
Retin-A and retinols are used only at night, as they do increase sun sensitivity. With daily use, you will see healthier skin in the long-term. We can recommend a best dosage or type for your skin.

Growth Factor:

Growth factors are one of the newest and most exciting additions to the medical skin care field. Topically applied, growth factors can rejuvenate the skin by renewing cells. Used daily, growth factor serums (we carry the two most effective types), are clinically proven to tighten skin and create healthier, better-functioning skin cells.

As needed, Skin Care Treatment Options:

Most of us have sun damage and age spots caused by years of sun exposure. We also see many patients with hormonally caused melasma. Treatment creams such as Lytera or the hydroquinone-based products from Obagi’s line (Clear, Blender, Sunfader), will clear up and fade pigmentation over time.
Used consistently, they will enhance the results of any aesthetic treatment.

Who doesn’t want longer, thicker, fuller eyelashes? Latisse is a topical solution that you apply to eyelashes nightly. Your own lashes will then grow in longer, darker, and thicker, leaving you with gorgeous eyelashes that enhance your beautiful eyes.

Full lash growth takes between 8-16 weeks, and the product must be used consistently. It is a “slam-dunk” treatment for our staff and our patients who love the results, and are able to enhance their eyes lashes easily and affordably.

Last, but not least, we must recommend daily sunscreen usage. The sun is skin’s number one enemy, causing aging, wrinkling, and darkening of the skin, not to mention the cancer risks of sun exposure. Sunscreen is best used multiple times per day, with reapplication every 2 hours, or as frequently as you are going out into the sun.

The most effective sunscreens contain both a physical and chemical block, as in the Obagi products. A physical block literally blocks the sun’s rays, and a chemical block breaks down rays that do penetrate the skin.
Most over-the-counter sunscreen do not contain both a physical and a chemical block. An SPF of 45 is generally your most effective formulation.
